Mission
The University of Caldas, in achieving its social role, corresponding to its public nature, has the mission to generate, adapt, diffuse, and apply knowledge by means of curricular, investigative and projective processes, in order to help with the development of complete citizens useful to society; provide solutions to regional problems and contribute with the sustainable development and the integration of the mid-western Colombia.

Vision
An effective university, visible due to the quality of its contributions to development in a global context characterized by:
- A pleasant environment based on respect to life and difference, solidarity, responsibility, order, tolerance and participation.
- A set of flexible, contextualized and articulated curricular processes with the aim to help the complete development of autonomous people, agents of social practice.
- An investigation that produces and recreates knowledge, generated in scientific communities, centered in schools of thought that underlie and give foundation to the post-graduate degree programs.
- A social compromise expressed by proposals to solve the problems posed by the sustainable development.
- A set of self-controlled managerial and financial processes within a modern organizational structure.
- A creative insertion into the processes of the globalization of knowledge.
